These adaptable screens will prompt to curvier, harder cell phone shows

Cracked smartphone screens could become a thing of the past The curved OLED displays on the Galaxy Edge phones are one of the features that help make the handsets popular, but a Japanese manufacturer has developed a bendable screen that could be even better than what Samsung’s devices offer, and could end up in future iPhones. Japan Display , Inc (JDI) says that its Full Active Flex LCD screen   uses a plastic substrate for both sides of the liquid crystal layer, meaning it has the kind of flexibility that can "help to expand the degrees of freedom in smartphone design," while being tough enough to withstand falls. The Galaxy S7 Edge has a screen that’s  particularly susceptible  to cracking. And once the screen breaks, it can lead to a long and occasionally  nightmarish  repair process. Thanks to those plastic substrates, it should take a lot more than a fall to damage the Full Active Flex. Additionally, JDI’s screen incorporates low-frequency drivin

Google brought down 1.7 billion awful advertisements in 2016, prohibited almost 200 distributers over deluding content

Fighting bad ads, sites and scammers Google has  published  a new report detailing how it’s dealing with spam, bots and other problematic “ads” on its network. According to the company, it took down more than 1.7 billion ads that violated its policies in 2016, more than double the 780 million bad ads it eliminated one year ago. Google took down 524 million in 2014, 350 million in 2013, and 220 million in 2012. The search giant credited a couple of things for the big increase in removed ads. For starters, it expanded its policies for ads that don’t meet its approval criteria — it banned payday loan ads, for instance, disabling more than 5 million of them by year's end. The company also targeted ads for illegal products as well as misleading ads for things like miracle weight-loss supplements. Second, it improved its technology to more effectively discover and disable unwanted ads or ads that try to game the system. Among these bad actors are “trick to click” ads

Beat other options to the Facebook application for Android

Facebook Lite: the official alternative Previously, your only options for a slimmer, less data intensive version of Facebook were the mobile site and wrapper apps. But now we have an official Facebook app that does the trick. Facebook Lite is a standalone app that can replace the regular Facebook app. It uses less data and works on 2G networks or when you don't have a stable connection to the internet, meaning it won't cost you so much data if you want to keep your monthly bill low. It's also a small app, so it doesn't take long to download and install. It's the fastest version of Facebook you'll find. See your friends' posts and upload photos quickly and efficiently. The app is compatible with most Android phones, even older ones. You don't lose too many features since you can still message and have group conversations, get notifications and share updates with multimedia attached.
